Mitchell Lee Kolbe currently resides in Palm Harbor, Fl. Mitch is a native North Carolinian who in 1973 was one of ten students nationally chosen to receive a scholarship to study at the prestigious Art Students League Of New York City.
Work soon followed in the field of graphics, illustration, museum murals, and sculpture. He is now concentrating his efforts in the Fine Arts and especially Plein - Air painting.
Kolbe’s work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections including: The Eastern Orthodox Church, Istanbul, Turkey, N.A.S.A., and the Governors Club, Florida State Capital, Tallahassee, Fl. He has called Florida home since 1983. In his words, “Plein - Air painting is a visual Haiku, poetry distilled down to its essence in order to describe implicit honesty and directness in dealing with images of the natural world”.
